Unstuffed grape leaves

 

I love stuffed grape leaves!  They’re a family favorite.  Most of the people I know love them as well.  What we don’t love is all of the work that goes into rolling them, just to make one pot.  One pot- that get’s devoured before you know it.

 

My mother came up with this recipe years ago.  She took her traditional recipe for stuffed grape leaves and, well…unstuffed them, lol.  She wanted a quick way to enjoy the taste of stuffed grape leaves without all of the work.

It’s finally spring! Not that you can tell the difference here in Florida.  It just feels like summer, lol.  There is a difference, however, Florida summer is scorching!  Spring helps us transition into real summer, that’s for sure.  The main difference is there’s a nice, cool breeze in the evening during spring.  By June, it’s gone and the nights are hot and humid.

Here at Down Cakery Lane, I oftentimes take you down memory lane with many of my recipes.  This is another one of those amazing dishes I grew up eating.  I always looked forward to it.  It has such a beautiful color.  And then there’s the texture: thick, creamy, with lots of stuff to sink your teeth into.
